DSA holds First Assembly and Elects Inaugural Executive Team

On Saturday, June 14, sisters from the congregations of Amityville, Blauvelt, Caldwell, Hope, and Sparkill came together for the first Assembly of the newly formed Dominican Sisters Association (DSA) in Blauvelt, NY. This historic gathering marked the beginning of a new collaborative chapter among these congregations, rooted in a shared Dominican charism and a commitment to deepen their life and mission together.
During the Assembly, the DSA elected its inaugural Executive Team. We are pleased to congratulate Sr. Terry Rickard, OP (Blauvelt) on her election as President, and Sr. Mary Hughes, OP (Amityville) as Vice President. We also celebrate the elections of Sr. Connie Kelly, OP (Hope), Sr. Mary Murray, OP (Sparkill), and Sr. Pat Travis, OP (Caldwell) as members of the Executive Team.
A huge congratulations to each of these sisters for stepping forward with grace, courage, and a deep commitment to the present and future of Dominican life and mission. With Sr. Terry’s inspiring leadership and the team’s shared vision, we move into this new chapter grounded in our Dominican charism and energized by the possibilities ahead.
May this next chapter be marked by bold ideas, deep listening, and the spirit of community that defines who we are.
