As we mark the 250th anniversary of the United States we offer these reflections as part of a broader 250th Anniversary initiative—inviting reflection on key national moments through the lens of Dominican values, especially Veritas, Truth rooted in lived experience, and asking what that calls us to today.
2026 Elected Leaders Meeting Recap
When leaders from fifteen Dominican Congregations gathered in Columbus, Ohio, from September 29 to October 1, they came carrying the hopes and struggles of their communities. They left carrying something more: a renewed sense that they are, in the words of this year’s theme, Chosen for Times Such as These. Seventy-two leadership members, joined by DSA Representatives and a North American Justice Promoter, spent three days praying, listening, and dreaming together about the future of Dominican life.

“I try to find joy in everything. Whatever comes my way, I try and accept it and be a joyful person. I don’t let hard times affect my joy. I’ve had some disappointments, but you deal with it. The world’s not perfect. When things get a little tough, I just pray a little more.”
