In Memoriam

Sinsinawa Dominican Sister Mary Martin Joseph, OP, died July 26, 2026. She was born and named Stanley May 8, 1943, to Clement and Marie (Nicolas) Joseph in Newtown, Port of Spain, Trinidad. She made profession in 1963 and received the religious name of Sister Mary Martin. She graduated from Holy Faith Convent, Woodbrook, Trinidad. Sister Mary Martin’s ministry was dedicated to serving parishes. She served as novice mistress and as spiritual director of Dominican Laity in Trinidad. She was parish administrator in Trinidad and served as secretary to finance in the Port of Spain-Trinidad Diocesan Chancery Office. She enjoyed experiencing the joy of contemplative prayer and helped others experience this, as well. Sister Mary Martin was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Clement Patrick Joseph; and a sister, Magnal Francis. She is survived by four sisters, Sister Mary Claire Joseph, Angela (Joseph) Gooding, Mona Joseph, and Claudette Hudson; a brother, Gerald Joseph; and her Dominican Sisters.
