Silent Voices, Big Truths: Lifting Voices of Struggle

Silent Voices, Big Truths

The North American Dominican Promoters of Justice, Peace and Care of Creation invite us to listen more deeply to the voices and lived experiences of those too often unheard. “Silent Voices, Big Truths” is a series of reflections exploring moments of struggle in our U.S. society and Church through the lens of Dominican values, especially Veritas—truth rooted in lived experience.

The latest reflection, “Living and Dying in Detention,” brings attention to the human stories behind immigration detention and those who have died in custody or in encounters with ICE. The reflection invites us into grief, accountability, truth, dignity, and solidarity, while offering a prayer and a call to action.
This is the third reflection in the ongoing Silent Voices, Big Truths series. We invite our members and the broader public to engage with these reflections, listen to voices that are often overlooked, and consider how Gospel justice calls each of us to respond.
